Listen: Virginia landlord unleashes racist, profanity-laden tirade after tenant requests repairs

A landlord in Virginia was caught on tape using profane and racist language against a tenant, NBC 12 News reported Monday.

"Now to a story that has many of you sounding off on social media tonight after we posted a recording of a Richmond landlord cursing at his former tenant and even using the N-word after she asked him to make simple home repairs," anchor Curt Autry reported.

They played a clip of the encounter.

"You're just another dumb ass n****r I got to go to court with and I go to court every damn day with them," the landlord, Dean Parsons, reportedly said in the recording.

NBC 12 caught up with the victim.

"The single mother of two says she feared for her life, especially since landlords have the keys to where you sleep at night," reporter Brent Solomon said.

He interviewed the victim, Winter Whittaker.

"Rodents, fleas ... It would leak constantly, in my bedroom, in my living room ... The hole inside the house, it was leaking from the gutters," she said. "That was the final straw for me."

"I moved here and then five days later, he called me the first B-word," Whitaker said. "For five months, I continuously was abused with the B-word every time I called him about a complaint."

Parsons manages 250 single-family homes and 125 apartments in the Richmond area.
