LIVE COVERAGE: Trump's 2019 State of the Union address -- and responses

President Donald Trump is delivering his second State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in the House of Representatives at 9 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday.

The president is expected to call for funding for his promised border wall. Trump has maintained there is a crisis at the country’s southern border.

A senior administration official told Reuters that Trump would also “encourage Congress to reject the politics of resistance and retribution, and instead adopt a spirit of cooperation and compromise so we can achieve it.”

After Trump's address, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will deliver the Democratic response, while California Attorney General Xavier Becerra will deliver the Democrats' Spanish language rebuttal.
