‘I love the FBI’: Bureau’s former top lawyer quits to pursue new career as blogger

The former General Counsel for the FBI resigned on Friday, The New York Timesreported.

James A. Baker says he is resigning to join the Brookings Institution to write for it's national security law blog Lawfare.

Baker has also taught on the topic at Harvard Law School for a decade.

“I love the F.B.I.,” he said. “I have tremendous respect for the bureau — the F.B.I. was great, is great and will be great.”

Former FBI Director James Comey praised the attorney, saying he “represents the best of the Department of Justice and the F.B.I.”

“He has protected the country and the rule of law throughout his career and leaves an inspiring legacy of service,” Comey said. “He is what we should all hope our kids become, a person of integrity.”

Also resigning on Friday was FBI trial attorney Lisa Page, who was caught having an affair for FBI agent Peter Strzok.
