Maine delays deciding if Trump will be allowed on 2024 ballot: report

A decision as to whether Donald Trump should be on Maine's 2024 presidential ballot has been delayed by Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, HuffPost reported.

A decision was expected to come Friday regarding Trump's eligibility, but Bellows said she wants to make more time for both sides to present their arguments. She reportedly plans to make a decision next week.

This Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that Trump is ineligible to be president due to the 14th Amendment, which bars anyone who has engaged in insurrection from holding office.

"Colorado’s decision could open the door for other states to follow its lead. Former Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling (D) and former state Sen. Kimberley Rosen (R) are among those challenging Trump’s eligibility in Maine, similarly citing the 14th Amendment in their arguments," HuffPost's report stated.
