Man loses life savings at carnival but wins giant banana with dreadlocks

A New Hampshire man is considering suing after he lost his life savings at a carnival game in Manchester and only came away with $600 and a giant stuffed Rastafarian banana.

Henry Gribbohm told WBZ that he attend the carnival and was "expecting the kids to win a few things, let the kids have a good time" but it "just didn’t turn out that way."

After practicing a game called Tubs of Fun and deciding he could win an Xbox Kinect, Gribbohm lost $300 in just a few minutes by going double or nothing.

He said that he was convinced that the game was rigged because the balls kept popping out of the tubs, unlike the success he had during practice.

"It’s not possible that it wasn’t rigged," Gribbohm said.

But determined to win, he went home to get $2,300 in cash and lost that as well.

Gribbohm returned the follow day to complain and received $600 in addition to the banana with dreadlocks.

Fiesta Shows, which runs the carnival, said that it was interviewing the gaming contractor to "get to the bottom of what happened." The game has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

"I know it’s a difficult game," Fiesta Vice President John Flynn told WBZ. "I’ve tried it myself — I’ve done it once, missed probably 20 times."

Gribbohm has filed a complaint with the police department and is considering a lawsuit.

"For once in my life I happened to become that sucker," he lamented. “It was foolish for putting up my life savings.”
