Battleground state Republicans are refusing campaign donations from Marjorie Taylor Greene: report

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is contributing money to fellow House Republicans — but some of those facing tougher elections don't want to be backed by her, reported Business Insider on Thursday.

According to the report, Greene, a far-right lawmaker infamous for previously spreading QAnon conspiracy theory and extreme anti-LGBTQ beliefs, contributed $2,000 each to 18 Republicans.

However, two of them — Reps. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) and Michelle Steel (R-CA) — never had the contribution show up in their reports.

Van Orden's office told Insider that the congressman "chose not to accept" the contribution, while Steel's office said that her campaign lost the check "due to a staffing error."

Both of these candidates face relatively competitive battles for re-election. Van Orden has also become controversial himself, as he is accused of having been at the Capitol during the January 6 attack and, recently, was caught screaming a profane tirade at U.S. Senate pages after emerging from a raucus party in his office that included alcohol.

Despite his seeming desire not to be associated with Greene, the two appear friendly when together on Capitol Hill, with Van Orden recently making a video with Greene mocking Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) over his fire alarm mishap.
