Marjorie Taylor Greene shot down for normalizing Jan. 6 at impeachment inquiry

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was called out for normalizing the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol at a House hearing on Thursday.

At the first hearing of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) asked Republicans to raise their hands if they supported equal justice for Hunter Biden and Donald Trump.

"Should both Hunter and Trump be held accountable?" he asked. "I want to see whether you'd raise your hand... I think it is worse than embarrassing that Republicans won't raise their hands. They refuse to say that equal justice under the law should apply to everyone."

"And what about the Jan. 6 defendants?" Greene interrupted.

Casar yielded to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who responded to Greene.

"I think as you were being interrupted by several colleagues," Raskin remarked, "I heard one question posed by the distinguished gentlelady from Georgia who said, what about the January 6th defendants, all of whom had lawyers, due process, the presumption of innocence, and they were convicted of various things, including assaulting federal officers and Metropolitan police as well as Capitol Police."

"What about BLM rioters?" Greene interrupted again.

Casar reclaimed his time to take on the Republican lawmaker.

"We've heard, because it wasn't on the microphones, multiple members saying it's wrong that January 6th rioters were convicted by a jury of their peers," he noted. "That is disturbing. We've started to get used to it, but we can't get used to it. It's scary."
