A Republican senator's attempts to troll billionaire businessman Mark Cuban Thursday did not go well at all.
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) was slapped down over his response to Cuban's long thread of X posts Wednesday detailing the advantages corporations enjoy by implementing DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion) policies.
The thread, led Cuban to engage with a writer for the conservative "humor" website, the Babylon Bee, where he patiently explained to the writer, "Running a company, as you know, is hard."
Cuban defends IBM's CEO assertion that he wants the diversity of his company to reflect the diversity of the nation on conservative lines.
"Do you have a problem with the CEO/board being able to run the company the way they choose?" Cuban asked. "DO you have a problem with that?"

This led Vance, the hedge funder whose campaign to be Ohio's junior senator was partially salvaged by Donald Trump in the 2022 election, to jump and take a jab at the NBA team of which Cuban is a minority owner.
"Do the Dallas Mavericks reflect the demographics of America as a whole?" the Ohio Republican retorted.
Cuban quickly responded, "If you were trying to make a stupid comment, you nailed it."
He then dug into the details.
"First, as an organization as a whole, yes we do," Cuban said. "More importantly, if you understand the value of DEI, it's not in checklists and quotas , it's in understanding how to best compete as a company."
Cuban then concluded, "We hire the people who put us in the best position to succeed."
Hours later, Vance had yet to respond.
