A Massachusetts man is currently in custody for killing his wife after she complained that he didn't buy her a Christmas gift, reports CBS Boston.
Julio Resto, 51, pleaded not guilty to murder in Waltham District Court Wednesday afternoon in the death of his wife, 42-year-old Gloria Resto.
According to authorities, Resto and his wife got into an argument over his failure to buy her a Christmas gift the week before.
Resto reportedly attempted to strangle his wife before stabbing her with a kitchen knife early Wednesday morning. He then attempted to kill himself by stuffing a towel in the exhaust pipe of his car. After that failed to work, Resto drove to the Waltham police headquarters where he entered -- knife in hand -- and announced, "Shoot me. I have nothing to live for! I just killed my wife."
After subduing Resto with a beanbag gun, the distraught man was taken into custody.
Investigators who went to Resto's home discovered his wife's body as well as her son who was sleeping, unharmed, in his bed.
Resto, who is due back in court on Jan. 6, is currently being held without bail.
