Trump attorney questions Michael Cohen's illness: 'Does not appear to be that infirm'

Former Trump fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen had his testimony delayed this Tuesday in Donald Trump's New York fraud trial due to a medical issue – the Trump's lawyers are doubting its validity, ABC News reported.

The announcement has upended the trial's schedule for the week, according to Judge Arthur Engoron who said it was now "up in the air." The judge also said he has not yet received Cohen's "all-important doctor's note," but that he hopes to receive it sometime Monday.

According to ABC News, Trump attorney Chris Kise expressed skepticism about Cohen's claims of illness, saying that Cohen still regularly posts to social media despite his alleged health issues.

"He does continue to be active in his pursuit of my client," Kise said. "He does not appear to be that infirm."

Cohen shot back with a statement. “I am thankful the medical condition, while incredibly painful, does not require an immediate procedure," he said.

"I anticipate appearing as soon as the pain subsides. When I do testify, I am certain Donald will be in attendance, sitting with his lawyers at the defendant’s table.”
