Michael Cohen will serve his time in a luxury prison described as 'Jewish Heaven': report

On Monday, with President Donald Trump's former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen set to begin his prison sentence, Newsweek profiled the prison he is being sent to, the Federal Correctional Institute in Otisville, New York.

The prison, located 70 miles northwest of New York City, is a minimum-security facility with "dorm-like" cells, no fencing, freedom of movement, recreational activities, and so many accommodations for people of Jewish faith — from dietary options, to work schedules that accommodate prayer sessions, to a full-time onsite rabbi — that one prison consultant described the facility as "Jewish Heaven."

The Otisville prison is considered one of the best destinations for federal prisoners convicted of white-collar crimes.

Cohen pleaded guilty last year to eight counts of bank fraud, tax evasion, and campaign finance violations related to his facilitation of hush payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy Playmate Karen MacDougal, with whom Trump engaged in sexual affairs — and, Cohen alleges, gave his blessing to the illegal scheme. He was sentenced to three years in prison.

He has also confessed to lying to Congress about Trump's plans to build a residential tower in Moscow, and offered to give Congress more documents relating to the project in return for greater leniency.
