A former insider in President Donald Trump's orbit offered a sobering prediction for the president during an interview with CNN on Wednesday night.
Former Vice President Mike Pence joined CNN's Kaitlan Collins on "The Source" to discuss the latest developments in the Trump administration. He argued that the administration's decision to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro without international support and other issues could pose a threat to the rest of Trump's term.
Collins asked Pence if he thought Democrats would impeach Trump if they retake the House of Representatives after the 2026 midterm.
"I thinkit's very likely," Pence said. "Theyimpeached the president for aphone call when we were inoffice."
Calls for Trump to be impeached have grown in recent weeks over a spate of issues. The administration failed to meet the deadline to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, and some experts seem to be increasingly convinced that they are engaged in a cover-up.
Those calls grew louder after Trump approved a middle-of-the-night operation to arrest Maduro at the presidential palace in Caracas.
Pence said he's noticed a desire for American politics to return to normal after Trump leaves office.
"AsI've traveled around thecountry the last five years, Ireally do believe the Americanpeople long for us to return tothose timeless principles andvalues that really united thecountry," Pence said.
