MSNBC conservative slams sexist attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘It’s so obvious people are jealous’

Former Republican strategist and MSNBC contributor Elise Jordan slammed her own party's sexist attacks on newly-elected New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, saying her critics were jealous and threatened by what she represents.

"It's been disgusting to watch any of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's moves be discussed," Jordan said, adding that the new congresswoman's enthusiasm and struggles reminded her of her own. "I relate to the bargain shopping and trying to look good when you're in DC and not making a great salary."

"I love how excited she is to be going to Washington," she added. "All of these people just trying to rain on the parade? It is so obvious, just their jealousy and how threatened they are by her."

"Clothes shaming? Unacceptable. Fat shaming? unacceptable," agreed fellow panelist William Cohan, of Vanity Fair magazine. "I think, honestly, Donald Trump has created an environment in this country where this kind of behavior is acceptable. And it's not."

"We heard it," chimed in an exasperated Jordan, calling out Republicans for blowing "the dog whistle of class and misogyny." "And then to act like it's everyone else's fault."
