MSNBC’s Ali Velshi blasts GOP congressman for lying about the economy: ‘You're making up facts'

MSNBC's host Ali Velshi slammed Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma) for making up false facts about the economy under President Donald Trump on Monday.

While talking about fair trade, Velshi asked why Mullin was so supportive of President Trump's initiatives.

"This is about bringing people back to the table. We have had a lot of people from a lot of countries over the last 20 or 30 years, taking advantage of our economy, and not allowing us to do business in their countries," Mullin said.

Mullin continued: "This is about taking care of a bigger issue, too. You have raw material that's bypassing our laws coming through Canada in the United States. The president is a negotiator, and he is allowing people to say if you want to do business with us, then we want to do business with you."

Velshi then asked how Mullin could possible support President Trump since he has insulted most of America's trade partners. Mullin tried to explain that job growth and the economy are stronger under President Trump, and Velshi shut him down quickly.

"Congressman, I don't understand what you're saying. You're making up facts in front of me. You know I'm a business journalist, right? I didn't just fall off the Trump truck," Velshi said. "Our economy was strong before the president came in. The U.S. economy was strong before Donald Trump became president. You're not going to deny that to me now."
