MSNBC's Howard Fineman says Fox News is wrong about Pittsburgh meeting with Trump tomorrow: 'They're not having any of it'

MSNBC analyst Howard Fineman said that reports by Fox News were wrong concerning the reaction to President Donald Trump's planned visit to Pittsburgh was incorrect.

MSNBC's "Hardball" anchor Chris Matthews asked Fineman about growing up as a member of the congregation that was attacked in the most deadly attack on Jewish Americans in the country's history.

"I basically grew up in Tree of Life Synagogue," Fineman noted. "My parents were Sunday School teachers there, I was bar mitzvahed there."

"I grew up in the wonderful peaceful sprawling neighborhood of Squirrel Hill," he continued. "Just a wonderful place to grow up and a place where something like this happening was -- until Saturday at around 10:00 a.m. -- inconceivable."

Fineman, who is a journalism professor at Penn State, drew upon his sources in his hometown to discuss President Trump's planned Tuesday visit.

"Can I add just one quick thing, Chris, since I have a lot of sources back in Pittsburgh?" he asked.

"I'm told that on another network -- i.e., Fox -- they're claiming that all the local political officials including the governor and the mayor, et cetera, are going to be with Donald Trump if he goes to Pittsburgh tomorrow," he noted.

"I'm told authoritatively by some of those same people -- and you should ask Bill Peduto about this -- they're not having any of it," Fineman reported.

"They might want Trump at some time," he noted. "They don't want him right now while the Jewish families are hurrying under the Jewish tradition to bury their dead."
