MSNBC's Katy Tur slaps down GOP's John Kennedy for saying we need to go easy on Saudi Arabia

As the global fallout over Saudi Arabia's murder of a journalist on Turkish soil continued Wednesday, some Republicans—alongside President Donald Trump—aired a series of excuses for continuing to collaborate with the Saudi regime.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, appeared on MSNBC Wednesday to warn of a "powder keg" exploding in the Middle East if America's relationship with Saudi Arabia is threatened.

Tur slapped Kennedy down, pointing out that even though Jamal Khashoggi was not a US citizen, his killing nevertheless took place while he lived in America.

"This was a US resident. He lived in Virginia," Tur said.

Kennedy continued to insist that Saudi Arabia was too important of an ally for the US to alienate the Gulf monarchy.
