Mueller demands judge reverse Manafort's bail after he was caught working with Russian on self-aggrandizing op-ed

Special counsel Robert Mueller rejected the terms of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Monday after the prosecutor discovered Manafort had been ghosting-writing on an op-ed with a Russian linked to the Kremlin while under house arrest.
As Business Insider reports, Mueller is urging the judge presiding over Manafort's case to reverse his bail agreement because the latter allegedly violated the court order that barred him from trying to influence public opinion.
"Even if the ghostwritten op-ed were entirely accurate, fair, and balanced, it would be a violation of this Court’s November 8 Order if it had been published,” Mueller's team wrote in their filing on Monday.
“The editorial clearly was undertaken to influence the public’s opinion of defendant Manafort, or else there would be no reason to seek its publication (much less for Manafort and his long-time associate to ghostwrite it in another’s name)," it continued.
On November 30, Manafort struck an $11.5 million bail deal that would have sprung him from Mueller's house arrest, but as the December 4 filing reveals, he may have been working on the ghost-written op-ed up to the day that deal was struck.
