Elon Musk’s accusation that President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill” is actually an “abomination” might be new. According to a Politico report, House Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) claims he had breakfast with Musk after the House voted on the measure — and it wasn't mentioned once.
“I went directly from that vote straight to a breakfast with Elon, and he never mentioned the bill that morning,” Guthrie said during Politico’s annual Energy Summit in Washington.
The revelation comes as last week's “break-up” between Musk and Trump appears to be starting to settle. Musk got into a war of words with Trump over the spending bill and even implied Trump should be impeached.
“He talked about AI, he talked about all this stuff that [was] energy,” Guthrie added. “Never mentioned the bill. And the bill had just been voted [on].”
Guthrie claimed there was some good news that came out of the breakfast with Musk. The congressman said Musk has “good insights” on energy and AI.
“We’re going to have federal guardrails, and it’s good to have the input from [Silicon Valley and other technology companies], and we want that input.” The Kentucky congressman went on to say.
