Mysterious ‘John Doe’ files court brief to keep Jeffrey Epstein documents from being released to the public

The Miami Herald filed legal action to unseal court records in the legal case of New York financier Jeffrey Epstein and his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell.

A three-judge appeals court ruled on March 11 that the records should be unsealed. However, two parties are now attempting to intervene to prevent the release, the newspaper reported Wednesday.

An amicus brief filed by "John Doe" is attempting to keep the records sealed.

"The court case currently at issue is a 2015 defamation lawsuit filed against Maxwell by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims she was recruited by Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, when she was 16 years old, The Herald explained. "She says Maxwell brought her to Epstein’s mansion and she was trafficked for sex to a number of prominent and powerful men."

John Doe has not been publicly identified by Giuffre as a co-conspirator, the filing says.

“So if he didn’t do anything, then why doesn’t he want to be identified?" wondered Herald attorney Sanford Bohrer.

"John Doe" is represented by New York attorneys Nicholas J. Lewin, Paul M. Krieger and Nicholas F. Bolz.
