President Donald Trump delivered an eye-popping update late Friday, claiming investigators have made significant progress in the Nancy Guthrie abduction case.
Guthrie, mother of NBC's "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on Jan. 31. Authorities found her blood on the doorstep, as well as a disabled doorbell camera, and were probing multiple notes believed to be from the kidnappers.
Nearly a week later, the case remained unsolved. However, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One the case is rapidly progressing.
"I think we're doing very well in that regard. You're probably surprised to hear that. I think we're doing very well. Very well, meaning we have some clues I think that are very strong. And I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon."
When asked whether the search could reach Mexico, Trump said he wasn't talking about a search, he was talking about a "solution."
"We have some things, I think that will maybe come out reasonably soon, from DOJ or FBI, or whoever, that could be definitive. A lot's taken place in the last couple of hours. A lot of things have happened with regard to that horrible situation in the last couple of hours," he said.
