South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson pushed back on claims that Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) made during an interview on CNN about her interaction with local police officers during an incident in October.
Mace was involved in a confrontation with security at the Charleston International Airport in October that investigators said occurred because Mace turned a "simple miscommunication" into a "spectacle," according to a report by The Washington Post. During the incident, Mace allegedly called airport security agents and police officers "f------ idiots" and told them they were "f------ incompetent," according to the report.
CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins confronted Mace about her comments during an interview on CNN on Tuesday, Mace denied saying any of the things that were listed in the report.
Wilson responded to Mace's claims on Wednesday.
"First off, it's a categorical lie," Wilson said.
"There are halfa dozen people who gave reports, statements that sheused," Wilson added. "They're all sayingthe same thing. Is everyonelying and she telling the truth? And it's not just this oneincident. Apparently, there's ahandful of incidents over thelast year where she is cussingout TSA, cussing out security."
"This is something that goes backnot just this past month, butfor the last year," he continued. "At the end ofthe day, she's saying thingsthat are delusional. Thisbasically reminds me of aspoiled brat, an entitledspoiled brat."
