National Park Services officially warns of poop ‘health hazard’ created by Trump’s government shutdown

As President Donald Trump's government shutdown continues, one of his federal agencies is warning that he is creating a "health hazard" due to the governmental closure.

The Los Angeles Timesreports the National Parks Service is warning of a threat to health at Yosemite National Park.

Citing public safety, Yosemite has closed two campgrounds because of human waste polluting the areas while bathrooms are closed and trash pickup is unavailable.

“With restrooms closed, some visitors are opting to deposit their waste in natural areas adjacent to high traffic areas, which creates a health hazard for other visitors,” agency spokesperson Andrew Munoz said.

In nearby Death Valley, several vaulted toilets have been closed after presenting a threat due to lack of cleaning.

Spokesperson Abby Vines says the rest will "remain open unless they become a hazard to human health."

Officials have suggested that visitors use restrooms in surrounding communities before entering national parks.
