A key NATO ally is pushing back hard against President Donald Trump’s renewed push to seize Greenland, accusing him of fabricating claims that China poses an imminent threat to the island. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and Greenland Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt told U.S. officials that Trump’s assertions about Chinese military interest were false and unacceptable, noting intelligence shows no Chinese warships near Greenland for years. The officials said alliance ties with Washington do not translate into U.S. ownership, directly rebutting Trump’s insistence that American control is necessary for national security as he continues to escalate his rhetoric online.
