Police in Taos, New Mexico are searching for a man who assaulted his wife and their newborn child in a hospital after becoming enraged when she breastfed the child in front of an attending doctor, reports KVIA.
According to police, Holy Cross Hospital had to be placed on a security lockdown after Rafael Orozco, 22, entered the hospital late in the evening and "struck his wife who had just given birth and also struck the child." The police reports states that the 23-year-old woman had given birth earlier in the day and that Orozco became upset when she "exposed" herself to feed the child.
The reports states that Orozco punched the woman in the head and grabbed her by the throat before slapping the baby on the head and then fleeing.
Following the incident, a hospital security guard grabbed Orozco but released him when he claimed he had a gun, leading to the hospital to lock down.
Taos Police Chief Randall Parmer said a warrant has been issued for Orozco's arrest on charges of domestic violence and battery on a child.
