Nicolle Wallace explains why Trump brings 'weakness' to SOTU: 'He may as well deliver the speech on his knees'

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace explained on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is set to deliver his State of the Union Address from a position of "weakness."

During an MSNBC panel discussion about the State of the Union, host Brian Williams asked Wallace if she expects a "disruption" from Democrats during the speech.

"A lot of people feel that the disruption is babies in cages," Wallace explained. "The disruption is a president who is attacking his own Justice [Department]. A lot of people think the disruption has already taken place. So whatever happens in the course of giving the speech is deserved and has been earned by the most disruptive president."

"I think this president walks in there," she continued, "and may as well deliver the speech on his knees. Because that is where he is politically. He is so weak that Republicans are saying now, 'Please don't declare a national emergency.'"

Wallace said that Trump is also "weakened by the constant scandals."

"It's spilling out all over!" the MSNBC host added. "It's a commander in chief who doesn't listen to his secretary of defense, doesn't listen to the rule of law that he's supposed to oversee and preserve and whose abuses to the innocent are now well documented."
