NRA board member: Bullied kids commit suicide because boys have been 'neutered'

"Full Metal Jacket" actor and NRA board member R. Lee "Gunny" Ermey said in an interview with NRA News that bullied teens commit suicide because young boys have been "neutered" by society and don't know how to stand up for themselves.

Media Matters reported that Ermey made the remarks while promoting his new reality TV show on The Sportsman Channel called "Saving Private K-9."

"What's happened is we've neutered all the young boys in this country, now," said the actor, who has also written a book called Gunny's Rules: How to Get Squared Away Like a Marine.

"We've got little kids committing suicide because somebody bullied them in the school yard," lamented Ermey before making it clear that it's their own fault.

"You know what? I was bullied when I was a kid, but I tried diplomatically to get out of the situation," he recounted. "If that didn't work, then I would resort to force, I would pop the guy in the snot locker, drop him down on the deck, and he would think twice before he came and bullied me again."

Gunny's Rules assures readers that they can use the knowledge contained within its pages to "take command of your life, get off welfare, unemployment, food stamps and regain a little bit of your self-respect."

"Lazy," goes Ermey's catchphrase, "is our new cripple."

Media Matters pointed out that Ermey has a history of inflammatory statements. He was fired from his job as a spokesperson for insurance company Geico when he launched into a tirade against President Barack Obama in 2010 at a Toys for Tots holiday event.

"I think we should all rise up, and we should stop this administration from what they're doing because they are destroying this country," Ermey said. "They're driving us into bankruptcy so that they can impose socialism on us."
