NRA loses attempt to wiggle out of New York lawsuit on misuse of funds

Judge Joel Cohen has tossed out the National Rifle Association's attempt to dismiss the attorney general's lawsuit over the organizations' misuse of funds.

New York Attorney General Letitia James tweeted that the judge dismissed the NRA's motion to dismiss and that the lawsuit will move forward.

As Politico described, the lawsuit alleges longtime NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre used the organization's funds for personal purposes. The court filing says that LaPierre took "lavish family vacations on the NRA's dime" taking them to the Bahamas on private jets eight times in five years. He also allegedly used the money to buy Christmas gifts and ushered in a secret contract to ensure that he would be paid for life by the group, even if he wasn't working there anymore.
