NRA TV segment warns about 'inflammatory' rhetoric that can inspire 'unstable' people to commit violence

The National Rifle Association is suddenly very concerned with "inflammatory" rhetoric that could incite mentally unstable people to commit acts of violence.

During a segment on the NRA's online TV channel, host Grant Stinchfield talked with United States Marine Corps veteran Mark Geist about the ways that left-wingers were using heated rhetoric to inspire crazed killers.

"I think that when you have an unstable person, the rhetoric that is being pushed, the wink and the nod that violence is okay, actually enables these folks and is even a 'go' sign to go and be violent," Stinchfield began.

"That's the one thing that all of us have to be careful of, the words that we use," replied Geist, who is best known for being a survivor of the 2012 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya. "Kathy Griffin holding up the head of a decapitated president, using that kind of rhetoric to inflame people, that's going to affect a certain number of people out there who are unstable already."

Geist also bemoaned the fact that many people demonize one another "just because you have a difference of philosophy."

In the past, the NRA has drawn repeated criticism for its own heated rhetoric that itself could have helped inflame people to commit violence.

Earlier this year, for example, NRA boss Wayne LaPierre gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Committee in which he darkly warned that gun-loving Americans were being besieged by a coalition of "Anarchists, Marxists, communists, and the whole rest of the left-wing socialist brigade," who "hate everything America stands for."

LaPierre also said that judges who ruled against President Donald Trump's executive orders were committing "a form of violence against our constitutional system," and he also ripped members of the intelligence community who leaked details of Trump's conversations with foreign leaders by saying they should be "tracked down and hanged for treason."
