Former President Barack Obama on Saturday sounded off against President Donald Trump in a speech endorsing a candidate.
Obama over the weekend gave a passionate speech in an effort to boost Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger. As part of that lecture, Obama gave the audience an, I told you so.
"It is not as if we didn't see some of this coming. I will admit it is worse than even I expected, but I did warn you all. I did," Obama said. "You can run the tape. And by the way, he warned you too, because he said what he was gonna do. But the fact is there were plenty of people who voted for Trump and the Republicans anyway. And it wasn't because they wanted to give up the right to free speech or see public health systems torn down, but because they were understandably frustrated with inflation and gas prices and the difficulty of affording a home and worries about their children's future and so they were willing to take a chance."
Obama further added, "Now, nine months later, you have got to ask yourself, has any of that gotten better? Is the economy working better for you? It sure has gotten better for Trump and his family."
