Ohio police have arrested a 20-year-old man on charges that he used the social medium Facebook to abduct, imprison, rape and impregnate a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Daily Beast, Cody Lee Jackson of Norwood was already on electronic monitoring for two other abduction cases when he lured the 14-year-old to his apartment and took her hostage.
Police arrested Jackson on Oct. 8 at a Greyhound Bus terminal in Utah and charged him with production of child pornography and coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.
Jackson -- a self-styled Facebook heartthrob with thousands of teen girl followers -- first came to police attention in August of 2014 when a woman and a minor child told police that Jackson had held them against their will. The woman said she had traveled cross-country with Jackson willingly, but that he had become abusive and controlling and would not let them leave.
Police charged him with interference with custody, abduction, and kidnapping. He was released on $100,000 bond and placed on electronic monitoring.
In February, Jackson made contact with a 14-year-old girl online. The two began chatting and Jackson began paying for the girl to visit him by taxi at the apartment his father was paying for in Norwood. He convinced the girl to have sex with him on these visits.
According to the Beast, "Jackson destroyed her cellphone and replaced it with a flip phone. He changed her Facebook password and the e-mail connected to it, so only he could log in. Then he started making her adhere to a list of 'rules,' including one that she must stay home after school and wait for his call, court papers state."
Then on one March visit, Jackson refused to let the girl leave. He imposed a strict set of rules on her, telling her when to sleep, what to wear, even what music to hum and sing. Works by male artists were forbidden.
Jackson enlisted the aid of a 20-year-old ex-girlfriend to help monitor and abuse the abducted girl. Within a few weeks, the teen realized that she was pregnant by Jackson.
The girl was imprisoned for five months until July 31, when the court removed Jackson's electronic monitoring bracelet, at which point he fled, attempting to evade police and disappear before his sentencing on the initial kidnapping charges.
The captive girl was able to convince Jackson's former girlfriend to hand her over to her grandparents. Jackson remained in touch with the teen girl, ordering her to send him pornographic photos of herself from her phone.
The girl ultimately turned over her phone to her grandparents, which contained evidence of her abuse and captivity.
Jackson was arrested and taken into custody in Utah.
