Ohio man murdered girlfriend in jealous rage -- then carried body to bed and talked to it for hours

A 31-year-old man in Blue Ash, OH stabbed his longtime girlfriend to death, then dragged her body to their bed and "talked to it for hours," according to Cincinnati.com.

On Friday morning, Nicholas Roelser withdrew a previous plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and entered a guilty plea in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on charges of stabbing Colleen Perry to death sometime in the late night or early morning hours of Jan. 1 or 2.

Perry was reportedly on the verge of leaving Roesler after a years-long relationship. The couple went out with friends on Jan. 1 and returned home.

Roesler admitted to police that he searched through Perry's phone when she fell asleep or passed out in the back seat of her car. What he found there enraged him.

He drove Perry's car to a secluded location and began to stab the 27-year-old with a knife. Perry woke up and began to struggle, but Roesler continued to stab and strangle her until she died.

"Roesler admitted the killing to police, according to the documents," said Cincinnati.com. "He told them he carried her body into their apartment and placed her body in the bedroom. He told police he cleaned Perry's body and then talked to her for several hours after she was dead."

Roesler was arrested on Jan. 3 after a park ranger interrupted him during a purported suicide attempt. Roesler drove away, but the ranger reported his vehicle to police.

Prosecutors intend to sentence Roesler to prison for 18 years to life at his sentencing hearing on Feb. 8.
