A student was shot and killed outside Pittsburgh's Oliver Citywide Academy Wednesday morning by another student, reports said.
It's the second fatal shooting near the special education school for grades three through 12 in recent years, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
The suspect attended the school and was caught while running from the scene with a gun. The child who was shot died at the hospital a short time later, according to the report.
“We believe, based on the information that we have and the video we’ve been able to see, that we have the actor in custody and there’s no potential threat to the other schools,” Major Crimes Commander Richard Ford said.
Students on their way to school on city school buses were re-routed to another school, and all other students were told to go home after the incident.
A 15-year-old was shot and killed outside the school last year as he sat in a school van waiting to go home. Two brothers who the deceased student knew from another school were charged in connection with the shooting.
