Omarosa tells Bill Maher why everyone in the Trump White House ends up humiliating themselves

Omarosa Manigault Newman appeared on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night to talk about her new book.

The former Trump White House aide, who came to stardom as a villain on his TV show The Apprentice, was asked about dysfunction in the White House, and about the president's creepy relationship with his daughter Ivanka.

Maher did have a bone to pick with Newman.

"Look, I'm not out to get you, I never didn't like you, you're fun—but the one thing I didn't like was after you guys got elected I had a problem with was when you guys got elected and you said, 'Everyone's going to have to bow down to Donald Trump now,'" Maher said. "That's not the way we talk in America."

Newman made no excuses.

"It was stupid, it was dumb, it was something I said at the height of the campaign hyperbole," she said. "Certainly I don't believe that everybody's going to bow down."

But Newman also explained why she made such a dumb statement—and why so many other Trump associates do the same.

"At the time I had an audience of one," she said. "When you work for Trump you're not trying to entertain the audience, you're trying to entertain him."
