A photograph captured during Attorney General Pam Bondi’s explosive congressional hearing on Wednesday may very well go on to become the “defining picture” of her legacy, MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” said on Friday.
Held by the House Judiciary Committee, Wednesday’s hearing saw Bondi grilled by Democratic lawmakers over what they said was the Justice Department’s continued failure to hold potential co-conspirators of Jeffrey Epstein accountable for their alleged crimes. The hearing also saw six survivors of Epstein’s abuse attend the hearing, standing behind Bondi.
“Pam Bondi was literally sitting with her back to victims. That picture will go down in history as her legacy,” said Mika Brzezinski, the co-host of “Morning Joe” alongside Joe Scarborough.
“The female attorney general, a woman who makes history by nature of having that job, turning her back to victims of sexual predators, child predators, and refusing to address them in any way. Refusing to agree to meet with them in any way, refusing to even confirm that they are still looking for these predators out there! Predators in our midst, in her midst for sure!”
Those six victims later told NBC News that they felt “degraded” during Wednesday’s hearing, with Bondi refusing to apologize to them, or even face them directly. One photograph in particular has drawn considerable attention: an image of a stone-faced Bondi looking onward as Epstein survivors behind her raise their hands, indicating that they had been stonewalled by the DOJ in their requests to meet in person.
“Pam Bondi, the defining picture of Pam Bondi's turn will be her keeping her back turned to those women who were victimized by rich, powerful men, and who they're covering for right now!” Scarborough said. “It certainly seems that way.”
