Friday Genius Ten "Cheap Trick Baffles" Edition
January 30, 2009
Today's song for the Genius mix was chosen to honor the concessions made in the stimulus bill to get exactly zero Republican votes. Leave your own, or a random mix, in comments.
"Surrender" by Cheap Trick
Genius really doesn't know what to do with Cheap Trick, which I suppose means that Genius is just like everyone else.
1) "Blitzkrieg Bop"---The Ramones
2) "Once In A Lifetime"---The Talking Heads
3) "For What It's Worth"---Buffalo Springfield
4) "Lust For Life"---Iggy Pop
5) "Edge of 17"---Stevie Nicks
6) "Shut Up And Let Me Go"---The Ting Tings
7) "Barracuda"---Heart
8) "Radio Free Europe"---REM
9) "Rock Lobster"---The B-52s
10) "Woman"---Wolfmother
I think the common denominator in many of these songs is they were chosen for Guitar Hero. Anyway, for all the bitching about the stimulus bill, this was a good week on the whole. Feminists got to keep most of what we asked for in the bill, and the Lilly Ledbetter Act passed. To celebrate, some goofy rock videos and cat pictures under the fold. Fuck you, Sarah Palin!
REM's first TV appearance.
I pulled back the curtains on one of our French doors, and for some reason Molly sat there for an hour sniffing the crack between the doors. I couldn't catch her in the act, though, because every time I picked up the camera, she stared at me.
One thing you have to know about Dusty is she likes to play rough---the rougher, the better. So she was absolutely thrilled that Norbizness put her in a full nelson, and wouldn't leave him alone with requests to play after this.
And Dusty doesn't subtly ask you to wrestle with her. She walks around meowing, sometimes carrying toys and looking forlorn. She could wrestle 18 hours a day.
