Parkland killer Nikolas Cruz buried his Trump-hating mom with a MAGA hat out of spite: report

Nikolas Cruz, the gunman who fatally shot 17 teenagers in Parkland, Florida earlier this year, reportedly buried his liberal mother in a "Make America Great Again" hat out of spite.

According to the Miami Herald, a new Broward Sheriff’s Office report contains an interview with one of Cruz's friends, who describes how Cruz placed the "MAGA" hat in his mother's casket as a way to get back at her for past political arguments.

"Due to the fact that his mother hated Donald Trump he put it in her casket with her when she died and took a picture of her with the hat,” the friend, a man named Hunter McCutcheon, told a detective investigating the case.

McCutcheon also described Cruz's late mother as "a liberal anti-gun type."

Cruz regularly posted photos of himself holding a gun on social media accounts, and there's at least one photo he posted showing him wearing a Trump "MAGA" hat.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the FBI was asked to look into Cruz's violent social media posts -- including one in which he boasted about wanting to become a school shooter -- although no concrete action was taken before Cruz walked into the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire this past February.
