John Gray, the controversial preacher of Relentless Church in Greenville, South Carolina, has drawn scrutiny for buying a mansion and a Lamborghini worth upwards of $200,000.

Faith leaders like Gray subscribe to the "Prosperity Gospel," or the idea that wealth is inextricably tied to God's favor. It has led some preachers, particularly televangelists or the heads of megachurches, to live ostentatious lifestyles.
