On Thursday's edition of The 700 Club, televangelist Pat Robertson featured a former atheist who said that she turned to Jesus after God canceled all of her appointments to get an abortion.
Anny Donewald, a former sex worker and rape survivor, told CBN host Terry Meeuwsen that she eventually realized that money was not the secret to happiness.
"Society is teaching us, chase after that dream, chase after that money, and I'm making money, but I'm selling my soul to get it," she explained. "And the longer you're in it, the harder it is to get out."
But eventually, Donewald did find a way out of the sex industry.
"When I get the honor of speaking to girls in the industry and sharing what Christ did for me, I always explain to people, there's a Bible verse that says, you know, the demon goes and finds a place of rest, and comes back and finds the place cleaned up, but empty," she said. "You know, it really does take Jesus Christ."
"You know, I was pregnant with my son, and went to have an abortion because I'm dead on the inside, I don't feel like I deserve -- for a number of reasons," Donewald continued. "But I was an atheist at the time so I prayed. The running joke was that I was the praying atheist. And I said, 'God, I don't know if you're real or if you can hear me, but I don't think you want me to do this. But I'm not going to be the one to stop it. You stop it.'"
She added that she had to make five different appointments with the abortion clinic, "and they all got cancelled."
Donewald said that this proved to her that "God is real," but she wasn't sure if he was Buddha, Muhammad or Jesus.
That's when God put a Bible verse in her head, proving Christianity was the one true religion.
