People being 'summoned' to work without pay is 'slave' treatment: CNN's Don Lemon

On Thursday, CNN host Don Lemon said the federal government is treating workers like “slaves" by making them work without pay during the shutdown. The government shutdown is headed into its fourth week. Thousands of people are showing up to work without pay, and little progress has been made to reopen the government.

While talking about Hip Hop artist Cardi B's viral video, that captured the attention of U.S. Senators, Lemon said that people should listen to her remarks.

"Of course, you should care about what she says because she is speaking for a lot of people," Lemon said to CNN's Chris Cuomo on Thursday. "She is absolutely right. This is ridiculous"

"If you are being summoned to work without pay, what is a similar synonym for that?" he asked.

"And for no good reason," Cuomo said.

"What kind of people work without being paid? Either you are an indentured servant or a slave. That is what is happening," Lemon said.
