Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA), a Marine veteran, hammered Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as he dodged questions about the deployment of troops into Los Angeles.
"Are the Marines in Los Angeles ordered to protect property by any means necessary?" the congressman asked Hegseth.
"Sir, I would say the ICE officers being attacked is not political theater," Hegseth said.
"Just yes or no?" Carbajal asked.
"The National Guard and Marines have the full authority to protect federal ICE agents," Hegseth repeated.
Carbajal again asked, "yes or no? Can you just say, yes or no? This isn't Fox anymore."
Hegseth said that they're there to protect federal agents and federal buildings, but Carbajal called it, "another BS answer."
U.S. Army and Iraq War veteran Allison Jaslow told MSNBC in response to the clip that some of the friends she has in leadership in the military are growing annoyed with the 'politics" in this administration and are thinking of retiring.
"You're going to lose some of the best leaders in the military in times like this. Not the people who otherwise who will just go along to get along in the military. And that's bad for our troops, especially the rank and file who need strong leaders," she said.
