Newsmax host Greg Kelly called on former Fox News host Pete Hegseth to withdraw from consideration after President-elect Donald Trump nominated him to be secretary of defense.
In a rant on Monday, Kelly insisted that Hegseth's confirmation as defense secretary was "not going to happen."
"It just can't, not after what we're learning about," Kelly said, citing an accusation from Hegseth's mother that her son was an "abuser" of women. The nominee has been accused of raping a woman and was removed as leader of a veterans group after questions about alcohol abuse.

"But if his mother said this, even at one point, you got a problem," the conservative Newsmax host noted. "[Hegseth's family] are praying for Pete and they want him to get some help and take an honest look at himself."
"Pete can make a contribution, a big one, unlimited, quite frankly, but not right now," he added.
