Phil Mudd: 'I will eat a hat live on your show' if Paul Manafort is not convicted on at least one charge

During Wednesday's CNN political panel, former CIA officer Phil Mudd said that he would be shocked if Paul Manafort wasn't convicted of at least something.

"The feds don't lose that many cases," Mudd explained. "In this case, you aren't just talking about the feds. You're talking about Robert Mueller, the former FBI director, dealing with some of the best prosecutors I ever witnessed at the Department of Justice and the FBI."

Mudd also argued that this isn't about "he said, she said."

"This is about the digital age, where you're looking at financial records, that's digital, and you're looking at things like emails and phone records," he continued. "I don't know why Manafort didn't plead -- maybe as we were discussing in the Green Room before, it's because Mueller didn't offer him a plea. But if he walks away without being convicted, I will eat a hat on your show the day after he walks. He's not going to walk."

CNN host Jake Tapper quipped that it could be a "Make America Great Again" hat for the "poetic justice of it."
