Piers Morgan lambasted President Joe Biden’s speech announcing he's stepping out of the race, claiming Biden told the American public “a whopper” by claiming he stepped down of his own volition — and not under intense party pressure.
“The whole idea that somehow Joe Biden had passed the torch,” Piers said during a Fox broadcast Thursday afternoon, “No, he had the torch applied to him and it’s friendly fire.”
During a panel discussion on "The Five," Piers ripped into Biden’s speech, which was largely well-received by Democrats, who praised Biden for his sacrifice.
Morgan doesn’t see it that way though, saying, “There was real deceit in that speech.”

“I found that speech pretty stomach-churning,” Morgan said. “He was trying to make a whole thing of Democracy, honesty and integrity and character – but was showing none of those things.”
Morgan compared Biden’s ouster to Joe Pesci getting “whacked” in Goodfellas, painting a picture of Democratic leaders threatening to come in “guns-a-blazing” to take Biden out if he didn’t resign first.
“What about just being honest,” Morgan said, later adding. “You’re looking down the barrel at the American people and telling them a whopper.”
