Pro-police group launches attack on black health care executive who criticized cops shooting black kids

An organization dedicated to defending police officers is protesting against a black senior executive at a major New Jersey healthcare organization after she made a Facebook comment about the prevalence of police officers shooting black children in the U.S.

According to NorthJersey.com, approximately 50 members of Brothers Before Others -- a group made up of current and retired police officers -- launched a protest in front of the offices of RWJBarnabas Health in West Orange to express their outrage at Executive VP & Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Michellene Davis.

At issue was a comment that she made on Facebook linking to a story about the placement of armed officers in Fair Lawn schools, where she stated: "Who is going to train them not to shoot black children first?”

Davis' comment caused a small uproar leading her to delete it and, even after her employer temporarily placed her on administrative leave, Brothers Before Others is still not happy.

“For a senior VP of a hospital to come out with that statement demonizing police when that’s not even close to the problem is egregious,” said Rob O’Donnell, director of media relations for Brothers Before Others as members held up signs attacking Davis. “Our police are risking everything to protect these children in the schools and are running toward gunfire when there are shootings and she’s accusing them of indiscriminately attacking black children?”
