ProPublica explains redistricting's ugly side through song

Following the 2012 census, states are now getting down to the business of redistricting. So, to explain the complicated process —and the dirty tricks that go into rigging districts in favor of one party —ProPublica has produced a music video breaking down the whole thing.

The video opens with a quaint banjo tune about representative democracy and why redisctricting is necessary. Then sudenly, the banjo drops out and the bass kicks in, as an ominous rap song riffs through the sneaky techniques used to gerrymander distrcits to beneift the party in power in future elections.

The whole thing is part of the investigative site's ongoing feature reporting on redistricting.
