Prosecutor wife suspected of evidence tampering for accused rapist husband

Jennifer Grant, a supervising assistant city prosecutor in Seattle, has been been reassigned to duties that "do not entail courtroom prosecutorial work" because she is suspected of tampering with evidence to protect her husband who is accused of the serial rape of immigrants at several massage parlors.

A recently released search warrant indicated that Jennifer Grant moved husband Dan Grant's SUV from the massage parlor where he allegedly raped one of the Chinese immigrants, The Seattle Times reported.

Dan Grant faces seven charges for a series of rapes of Chinese women working as massage therapists, including four counts of first-degree rape, one count of second degree rape and one count of attempted second-degree rape. He also faces a charge for first-degree burglary. He has pleaded not guilt to all charges.

Jennifer Grant claimed that she took no evidence from the SUV except a garage key card. However, a search warrant obtained by KIRO showed that police believed that the vehicle may have contained a knife, condom wrappers, phony police ID and DNA.

Police also believed that Dan Grant, who is also an attorney, may have used his access to the Westlaw database to obtain information to threaten the victims.

All of the victims in the case were of Asian descent. Charging documents said that two of the women were Chinese immigrants who spoke no English and another was a Chinese immigrant who only spoke broken English. The specific ethnicity of two other victims was not released.

Acquaintances told The Seattle Times that Dan Grant "is obsessed with Asian women."

Jennifer Grant and her husband were described by ABC News as a Seattle "power couple."
