Redstate's Erick Erickson: Republican consultants swimming in cash like 'Scrooge McDuck'

Conservative Redstate co-founder Erick Erickson on Wednesday said that Mitt Romney had lost to President Barack Obama because he had outsourced to his campaign to Republican consultants who were now "swimming" in money like the Disney cartoon character Scrooge McDuck.

While reviewing the election results on Wednesday morning, CNN's John Berman noted that Obama's effort to get out the vote in Ohio proved that "ground game matters."

"Republicans this time around said that they could match the Obama ground game," CNN senior congressional correspondent Dana Bash pointed out. "And they didn't."

"It was a lot of hype on the Republican side," Erickson agreed. "The problem is that you had a number of consultants in the Republican Party who decided, 'We're going to keep the data for ourselves, don't you go set it up.' What Barack Obama did successfully in 2008 is he told Democratic consultants in Washington, 'You know what? We're going to do this in Chicago, guys.' And it worked. Republicans are going to have to start doing that."

"It's the D.C. GOP consultants are swimming around like Scrooge McDuck this morning. They spent the money and they got nothing to show for it."
