Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) insisted at a press conference on Wednesday that Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives would not cave to President Donald Trump's State of the Union call to end the investigations into his administration, campaigns and businesses.
"The best thing that can be said about the president's speech is that it's over," Jeffries told reporters. "Donald Trump has left the building and now we can get back to the business of fighting for the people."
"We will not be bullied by the president of the United States," the congressman explained. "The days of the House functioning as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Trump administration are over."
Jeffries insisted that House investigations would give the American people a "chance to decide for themselves, did the Russians attack our Democracy with the aid and comfort of members of the Trump campaign?"
