Rep. Michele Bachmann tells Sean Hannity: I'm not going away

Representative Michele Bachmann (R-MN) said Thursday night she plans to stay "in the fight" despite her departure from Congress.

Appearing on Fox News, the congresswoman and former Republican presidential candidate said she was proud of her achievements as a lawmaker.

"I think that there is just a time when you've served and then it is time to move on," Bachmann told host Sean Hannity. "I'm not retiring. I'm not going silent. I'm not quitting my public involvement. In fact, I may run for another public office. That could happen. But for right now, I think I am going to find a different perch in order to be able to weigh in on these matters. Sometimes you can be more effective on the outside than on the inside."

She explained that she quickly became a controversial congresswoman because she was "exposing" Democrats like President Barack Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Bachmann said the "radical left" feared Americans who asserted their constitutional rights and wanted to silence conservative women.

Bachmann insisted she was not "going away" or "leaving the national scene." She said another presidential run was a possibility.
