Reporter accuses Shep Smith of 'speaking like a true Democrat' on healthcare -- and gets quickly shut down

Shep Smith on Friday shut down Wall Street Journal reporter Aaron Zither after he told the Fox News host he was “speaking like a true Democrat” on healthcare.

Zitner was discussing Trump’s executive order on healthcare, explaining the president was hoping to be a “disruptive force who would change the way business is done in Washington,” but eventually realized he “couldn't get what he wanted” with regards to ObamaCare.

Smith asked if Trump has any “concerns that poor people and others may be left out in the cold here?”

“A lot of Republicans do,” Zitner acknowledged, nothing there’s a “trade off” with the president’s plan.

“[He’s] saying, ‘I’m going to bring more options to people, there’ll be more lower cost options, sure the plans might not be as comprehensive.’”

“They might not cover what’s wrong with you,” Smith chimed in. “Because now we have a law that says, ‘If you buy insurance, it has to actually cover you’ … In this new world though, it won’t be required to cover anything. You can pay for insurance that won’t cover your sickness.”

Zitner agreed, pointing out that critics of Trump’s plan are concerned healthy people will flee the market.

“One thing about those young and healthy people: someday if they’re lucky, they’ll be old,” Smith replied. “And then they’ll be stuck with this. It tends to be how things work, you know, if everybody pays in, then everybody gets coverage. That's sort of the basics of insurance. like car insurance, right?"

“Shep, you're speaking like a true Democrat, in a certain sense,” Zitner said.

“Wait, car insurance is political?” Smith asked.
